Do you live in Blaenavon, Thornhill, Upper Cwmbran, Trevethin, Penygarn, or St. Cadocs? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our volunteer task group, the People's Committee!

As an active member, you’ll play a vital role in selecting funding applications for Torfaen’s Participatory Budgeting (PB) project, Communities Choice. You’ll collaborate closely with the PB Communities Choice Coordinator, attending monthly meetings to discuss key community issues, evaluate funding ideas, score proposals, and support local engagement events.

The People’s Committee is committed to a fair and transparent decision-making process, selecting the best proposals to advance to a public vote. By joining, you’ll empower residents to actively shape local projects that address priority community issues.

Duties to include (but not limited to):

  • Supporting local meetings and events.
  • Promoting the Participatory Budgeting project in Torfaen.
  • Working as part of a team to identify key community concerns and contributing to problem-solving efforts.
  • Reviewing and monitoring funded projects to ensure they are delivered as outlined.
  • Providing ongoing feedback to TVA’s Communities Choice Coordinator to help refine future PB initiatives.
  • Completing Level 1 numeracy training to support the effective management of allocated funding.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on your community, gain valuable skills in funding allocation, and take a leading role in creating positive, community-driven outcomes. You’ll connect with other community members, third-sector stakeholders, and enjoy diverse networking opportunities that can boost your CV and enhance your career prospects.

No prior experience is necessary—transferable skills and life experience are highly valued! Please include a short message or personal statement outlining your relevant experience.
